Panchkula, Aug. 4 -- To accelerate rooftop solar adoption, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) now allows beneficiaries of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) to pay for the net meter and load enhancement either upfront or through their first electricity bill after system commissioning.
This decision was formalised in a Sales Instruction dated July 28, 2026.
This arrangement is expected to reduce the initial financial burden for domestic consumers adopting rooftop solar under the Centre's flagship scheme. Previously, consumers had to pay these charges before installation. Now, applicants may defer payment until their first electricity bill after commissioning.
