Chandigarh, April 8 -- The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday apprehended a Deputy Director of the state's Agriculture Department in Sonipat for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The accused, Dr Pawan Sharma, had reportedly demanded a total of Rs 1 lakh from a resident in exchange for issuing a wholesale fertilizer license. This arrest follows a successful trap operation conducted by the Rohtak unit of the ACB.
According to ACB officials, the investigation was initiated following a complaint from a resident of village Jati Kalan in Sonipat. The complainant, Rajkumar, alleged that the Deputy Director had initially sought Rs 1 lakh to facilitate the license.
