Tirupati, July 22 -- An idol of Lord Hanuman was stolen from the Sri Prasannanjaneya Swamy temple located at Alipiri on the ghat road leading to famous hill shrine Tirumala.
Police said that the unidentified miscreants made away with the idol in the early hours on Wednesday. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) vigilance and police have formed 10 special teams to trace the idol.
The incident was captured by the CCTV cameras and the police are examining the footage, police said. The TTD officials said that the stolen Hanuman idol is a one-foot rock idol and it had been there for the last few decades.
