Hamirpur, March 29 -- Police in Hamirpur have uncovered a major inter-state fraud involving fake firms and wrongful claims of Input Tax Credit (ITC), leading to a revenue loss of approximately Rs 7 crore.
One accused has been arrested in connection with the case, police said on Sunday.
According to Sadar Kotwali in-charge Pawan Patel, the incident dates back to 2025, when GST officer Rajendra Singh filed a complaint under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act. The complaint alleged that a gang was operating across states, creating bogus firms and generating fake invoices without any actual transactions to fraudulently claim ITC.
