Berlin, Sept. 2 -- Hamburg has signed Portuguese playmaker Fabio Vieira on a permanent deal from Arsenal following his successful loan spell last season, the Bundesliga club announced.

The 26-year-old signed a four-year contract until June 2030 after completing his medical, endinga summer-long effort by Hamburg to secure the return of one of its leading attacking players from the previous campaign.

Vieira scored seven goals and supplied five assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances last season, starting 25 matches, and recorded 13 goal contributions across 31 competitive appearances.

Hamburg sporting board member Kathleen Kruger said Vieira's return reflected the club's progress since winning promotion.
