Pune, July 6 -- Heavy rainfall over the past two days has caused a sharp rise in the Mula river water level leading to flooding in several settlements on the banks in Bopodi under Ward No. 8.

Floodwaters entered numerous residential areas, disrupting normal life and causing significant hardship for residents.

Deputy Mayor Parshuram Wadekar waded through knee-deep water to assist flood-affected residents and assess the situation. He alleged that negligence by officials of the River Improvement Project was responsible for the flooding.
