Bengaluru, Aug. 8 -- HAL Airport, Bengaluru, has become the first airport in India to operationalise a satellite-guided precision navigation system designed exclusively for helicopters, cutting the approach time to the airport from around 12 minutes to approximately four minutes.
Developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the procedure was validated through flight trials conducted by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) test pilots and subsequently approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
