Glasgow, July 27 -- Indian weightlifting continued to shine at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as Gyaneshwari Yadav delivered a sensational performance to claim the silver medal in the women's 53kg category, adding another podium finish to India's impressive campaign in the sport.
Gyaneshwari lifted a combined 199kg in the final, with an 88kg effort in the snatch and a powerful 111kg lift in the clean and jerk. Her clean and jerk attempt briefly placed her in the record books as she set a new Commonwealth Games mark, before Nigeria's Didih Onome Omolola produced a 113kg lift to take the record away and secure the gold medal.
