Munger, July 28 -- Complete surrender to the Guru is the very essence of discipleship, Paramahamsa Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati said on Tuesday while addressing devotees on the third day of the four-day Guru Purnima Mahotsav at Sannyasa Peeth, Paduka Darshan, Munger.

He said discipleship was not merely a means of acquiring knowledge but of assimilating the Guru's teachings, consciousness and ideals into one's life.

Spiritual practice purified the seeker's heart and prepared it to receive higher wisdom, he added.

The Swami said true discipleship begins when a seeker sheds the ego and strives to imbibe the Guru's consciousness.
