Abu Dhabi, June 24 -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio touched down in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday for talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, kicking off a regional tour designed to ease Gulf allies' nerves following a preliminary nuclear agreement between Washington and Tehran.

Abu Dhabi is the first stop on a trip that will also take Rubio to Kuwait and Bahrain. The visits come just days after US and Iranian officials met in Switzerland to work on converting the preliminary accord signed last week by President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ,into a broader, more durable settlement aimed at ending months of conflict.
