Bengaluru, June 11 -- The political row over Karnataka's Gruha Lakshmi scheme intensified on Thursday, with the Congress government firmly rejecting Opposition allegations of largescale exclusion of beneficiaries and defending the implementation of its flagship welfare programme.

Congress leader Ramesh Babu dismissed claims that women were being arbitrarily removed from the beneficiary list, asserting that the scheme continues to function smoothly and benefit a large number of households across the state.
