Dharamshala, July 27 -- The Himachal Pradesh government's Green Panchayat initiative is emerging as a new model of sustainable rural development by promoting clean energy generation while ensuring direct economic benefits for village communities.
Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the scheme aims to protect the state's natural heritage while accelerating green energy-based development across rural areas.
Under the programme, 500-kilowatt ground-mounted solar power plants are being established in 100 gram panchayats across the state. Each project involves an estimated investment of around Rs 2 crore and is expected to generate nearly 800,000 units of clean electricity annually. The initiative is ...
