Agartala, June 22 -- An elderly man has been arrested for allegedly raping his minor granddaughter while her parents were temporarily absent from home in Bishalgarh under Tripura's Sepahijala district.
The accused has been identified as Bishnupada Sarkar.
Police said the victim's parents had left the minor girl at home to attend a Ramayana Kirtan event, creating an opportunity which Sarkar allegedly exploited to subject the child to sexual assault two days ago.
On their return, the victim informed the ordeal, and her parents promptly lodged a formal written complaint against Bishnupada Sarkar at the Bishalgarh Women's Police Station.
