Thrissur, April 20 -- The world-renowned Thrissur Pooram festival commenced with traditional flag-hoisting (Kodiyettam) ceremonies on Monday, marking the formal beginning of one of Kerala's most celebrated and visually spectacular temple festivals.
The rituals were held with great devotion and ritual precision at the major participating temples, including Thiruvambady Sri Krishna Temple and Paramekkavu Bhagavathy Temple, along with eight associated temples.
The Kodiyettam ceremony, which symbolises the official start of the Pooram festivities, was conducted in the presence of the respective deities, accompanied by traditional temple rituals, processions, and offerings.
