Patna, Aug. 21 -- The Bihar Higher Education Department today rejected claims that education loans available under the Bihar Student Credit Card scheme had been reduced, saying students had instead been provided with additional financing options.

According to the department secretary, education loans of up to Rs 2 lakh would now be available through the Bihar State Education Finance Corporation, with financial assistance between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 4 lakh provided through scheduled commercial banks.

Earlier, loans up to Rs 4 lakh were available through the Bihar State Education Finance Corporation, it was pointed out.
