New Delhi, March 7 -- : An emerging set of ocean-based technologies, from seawater desalination to ocean thermal energy systems, is being tested in Lakshadweep to address the islands' chronic shortage of freshwater and dependence on diesel-powered infrastructure.
During a visit to Kavaratti, Minister for Earth Sciences and Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, reviewed the progress of desalination and ocean energy projects being implemented by the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).
