New Delhi, July 29 -- The Central government is set to introduce the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, seeking to tighten the legal framework governing delayed registration of births and deaths by introducing stricter scrutiny, particularly in cases where registration is sought more than two years after the event.
According to the List of Business of the Lok Sabha, union Home Minister Amit Shah will move for leave to introduce the Bill further to amend the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969.
