Bengaluru, Aug. 24 -- Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Monday accused the Congress government of shielding Minister B Nagendra despite corruption allegations and questioned why he was retained in the Cabinet and given another portfolio instead of being dropped.

Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, Vijayendra said the BJP had repeatedly demanded Nagendra's removal but the government had chosen to "protect" him.

"Even after we demanded that a corrupt minister be dropped, the government has given Nagendra another department. This itself shows that the government is shielding him," he said.
