Chennai, June 18 -- The Tamil Nadu government's foremost goal was to completely eradicate poverty and create a poverty-free state, while making TN as India's Model State for urban excellence by 2031, Governor R V Arlekar announced in the State Assembly on Thursday.
Delivering his maiden customary address to the House on the first day of the first session of the new TVK government headed by Chief Minister Vijay, the Governor said to completely eradicate poverty, the Government will identify poor families in and ensure that Government's welfare schemes reach them, improve their livelihood by creating opportunities and facilities for them to undertake self-employment.
