New Delhi, June 14 -- What initially appeared to be an accidental fire tragedy in South Delhi's Tughlakabad Extension has taken a dramatic turn, with Delhi Police uncovering a criminal conspiracy behind the blaze that claimed three lives.

The fire broke out at around 2:24 AM on June 12 in Building No. RZ-171/1, Gali No. 1, TKD Extension, engulfing the structure from the ground floor to the fifth floor. Eight people sustained injuries and were shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre and Safdarjung Hospital. Three victims - Pankaj Pandey, Sushila Devi and Sonia Kumari - later succumbed to their injuries.
