California, June 23 -- Amine Gouiri's late strike completed a stirring Algeria comeback as the North Africans defeated Jordan 2-1 in a crucial FIFA World Cup Group J clash at Levi's Stadium on Wednesday IST, boosting their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.
Gouiri struck in the 82nd minute after Algeria had spent much of the second half pressing for a breakthrough, turning around a match that appeared to be slipping away following Jordan's impressive first-half display.
