Googlebook: One laptop, Oct. 2 -- Google is entering a new premium laptop category with Googlebook, seeking to bring Android smartphones and laptops into a single connected ecosystem where users can continue work across devices, access phone applications and files on the laptop and transfer information such as passwords, Wi-Fi details and messages without repeatedly configuring each device.

The new laptop range is positioned as a premium product rather than an extension of the traditional Chromebook line. Googlebook is aimed at competing with the MacBook Air and high-end Windows laptops, with prices starting at USD 899, equivalent to around Rs 86,500 at the current exchange rate, market analyst VS Syamlal told UNI.
