Parmod KumarNew Delhi, Aug. 24 -- The Goa government on Monday told the Supreme Court that former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal should have surrendered before challenging his conviction and 10-year sentence in the 2013 sexual assault case, while Tejpal maintained that no such requirement arose at this stage as the Bombay High Court itself had given him four weeks to surrender.
The issue arose during a chamber hearing before Justice Alok Aradhe on Tejpal's appeal against the August 6 judgment of the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court, which reversed his 2021 acquittal by a trial court and convicted him of sexually assaulting his junior colleague in an elevator of a hotel in Goa in 2013.
