Itanagar, Aug. 3 -- In a landmark achievement for environmental conservation, Glaw Lake in Arunachal Pradesh's Lohit district has been designated as the Northeastern state's first Ramsar Site, becoming India's 101st wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.
Announcing the development, union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav described the designation as a significant step towards strengthening biodiversity conservation, water and climate security, and sustainable livelihoods.
