Giridih, Feb. 23 -- An estimated 57 per cent voter turnout was registered in the municipal body elections in Giridih, Jharkhand, which concluded by and large peacefully on Monday despite sporadic incidents of violence reported at a few polling stations.
According to official sources, a clash broke out between supporters of two ward councillor candidates at Booth Nos. 1 and 2 on Bulaki Road under Ward No. 27 of the Giridih Municipal Corporation. The confrontation escalated into a minor stone-pelting incident followed by scuffles between the rival groups.
