New Delhi, Oct. 18 -- Shubman Gill's return to the Ranji Trophy ended almost as soon as it began, with the India Test and ODI captain dismissed for just one run in Punjab's Elite Group B match against Chhattisgarh at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh on Sunday.
Batting at No. 4, Gill walked in after Vihaan Malhotra was trapped lbw by Dharmendrasinh Jadeja. The right-hander faced only five deliveries before left-arm spinner Ajay Mandal breached his defence in the 27th over. Mandal bowled a delivery that held its line and slipped through the gap between bat and pad to hit middle stump.
Gill had missed Punjab's season opener against Assam but made himself available for the Chhattisgarh fixture to get some red-ball practice ahead of India...
