Bengaluru, Aug. 23 -- Sudip Kumar Gharami produced the most telling performance of the opening day of the Duleep Trophy quarterfinals, transforming an early East Zone crisis into a position of command with a composed 146 here on Sunday.
Gharami walked in at No. 4 with East Zone reeling at 25 for two against North East Zone and found himself battling a disciplined bowling attack and the pressure created by wickets at the other end.
By the time East Zone reached 138 for five, the innings appeared to be slipping away.
Gharami, however, refused to allow the collapse to dictate the course of the day.
