Riyadh, July 29 -- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) secretary-general has condemned what he described as "continued terrorist attacks" against Saudi Arabia by Iran-backed militias in Iraq, warning that the incidents pose a threat to regional security.
Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi said the attacks represented a "dangerous escalation" and a "flagrant violation" of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, posing a direct threat to the kingdom's security and stability as well as regional peace.
"The GCC countries stand alongside Saudi Arabia and fully support the decisions it takes to protect its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity," AlBudaiwi said in a statement.
