Dhanbad, April 1 -- Panic gripped Tandabari locality in Dhanbad on Wednesday after land subsidence led to a gas leak, prompting authorities to seal the affected area and shift residents to temporary shelters.
Officials said two houses were damaged in the incident in the Sonardih OP area, while wide cracks also appeared in nearby locations. Gas leakage was reported from an area spread over around 35 metres, raising safety concerns.
Following the incident, the district administration and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) cordoned off the area and restricted entry. Residents living within the affected zone were asked to vacate as a precautionary measure.
