Bhatkal, Sept. 17 -- A madrasa windowpane was allegedly damaged during a Ganesh idol immersion procession in the Gulmi area of Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district, triggering a protest and prompting police to step up security in the communally sensitive town.
According to police, the incident occurred when a Ganesh idol procession organised by the Salanda Ganeshotsava Committee was passing through the area. The madrasa, located adjacent to a mosque, was allegedly targeted during the procession, resulting in damage to one of its windowpanes.
