Bhubaneswar, June 18 -- Noted Gandhian thinker Prahlad Kumar Singh has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and ensure implementation of the commitment to make Odisha a liquor-free state, a promise he said was included under "Modi's Guarantee for Odisha".

Singh said he had earlier written several letters to the Odisha Chief Minister seeking action on the commitment but did not receive any response. Following this, he has now approached the Prime Minister directly and requested intervention to fulfil the assurance.

Referring to the 2024 General Elections, Singh said the BJP's vision document, titled "Modi's Guarantee for Odisha", had included a pledge to work towards prohibition in the state.
