New Delhi, July 20 -- India opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named captain of the West Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, while experienced left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Shams Mulani has been appointed vice-captain.
The squad was announced on Monday after a meeting of the West Zone selection committee for the tournament, which will be held from August 23 to September 10 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
Gaikwad takes over the captaincy from Shardul Thakur, who led West Zone to the semi-finals last season. West Zone narrowly missed out on a place in the final after Central Zone secured a first-innings lead in the last four.
