Tehran, June 13 -- Funeral ceremonies for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will begin in Tehran on July 4 and conclude with his burial at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad on July 9, according to a schedule released Saturday by the office responsible for preserving and publishing his works.

Khamenei was killed in U.S. and Israeli strikes on Tehran on February 28, an event that marked the end of more than three decades of leadership over the Islamic Republic.

According to the announcement, farewell ceremonies will be held at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla on July 4 and 5. A funeral procession is scheduled in the Iranian capital on July 6, followed by another procession in the holy city of Qom on July 7.
