New Delhi, June 19 -- In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court on Friday held that the right to walk on a designated footpath forms part of the fundamental right to move freely under Article 19(1)(d) of the Constitution.
The Court observed that this right encompasses access to safe, accessible, and properly demarcated footpaths, and that it must take precedence over the movement and convenience of motorised vehicles.
