Atul KrishanNew Delhi, May 1 -- : In a major enforcement action to safeguard consumer health, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has penalized an e-commerce Food Business Operator (FBO) with a fine of Rs 6 lakh for violations of food safety norms.
The action was carried out by FSSAI's Northern Regional Office under the supervision of IPS officer Devesh Kumar Mahla, following multiple consumer complaints regarding the sale of expired and spoiled food products through online platforms.
According to officials, Central Food Safety Officers conducted a detailed investigation after receiving complaints. During the probe, several instances of non-compliance with prescribed food safety and quality standards were identified....
