London, Feb. 23 -- Jessie Buckley continued her remarkable awards season by winning the best actress award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards in London.

The victory comes just two days after she received the same honour at the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards in Dublin, making Buckley the first Irish performer to win the BAFTA Best Actress award.

She was recognised for her compelling performance as Agnes Shakespeare in Hamnet, directed by Chloe Zhao. The award was presented at the Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank, with Cillian Murphy handing her the trophy.
