Panchkula, Sept. 16 -- A fresh spell of rain is set to sweep Haryana and Punjab on Wednesday and Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting fairly widespread to widespread rainfall and isolated heavy showers on both September 16 and 17, before precipitation begins to retreat sharply from the region.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely at isolated places across Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab during the two-day spell, according to the IMD's All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued at 8.09 am on September 16.
