Nahan, Aug. 30 -- A team from the Himachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (GST) Enforcement Wing, South Zone, has uncovered a major GST fraud in which a deceased person's name was misused to carry out the deceit.
Abinash Kumar, a resident of Nichar in Kinnaur district, allegedly obtained a GST number using a fake rent deed and electricity bill in the name of a deceased person. Subsequently, fake goods and services invoices worth approximately Rs 231 crore were issued between January and June 2026. The investigation also revealed IGST fraud of Rs 41.61 crore.
According to the investigation, purchases worth approximately Rs 32 crore were shown in Delhi, Haryana, and other states through the fake firm, while the cash tax paid was only Rs 247...
