Meerut, April 3 -- Four teenagers drowned while bathing in the river at the Makhdoompur Ganga Ghat in the Hastinapur area of Meerut on Friday.
According to reports, a group of villagers from Jalalpur in the Lawar police station area had gone to the ghat to attend a funeral.
After the last rites were completed, several boys entered the Ganga River to take a bath.
During this time, they accidentally moved into deeper waters and began to drown.
Panic broke out at the scene as locals rushed to help.
Eyewitnesses said that five teenagers were struggling in the water. One of them was rescued by companions, but four others went missing.
