Chandigarh, July 31 -- Amritsar Rural Police has detained four persons allegedly linked to the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) during an operation in the Ajnala area ahead of Independence Day, according to sources.
The arrests are being seen as part of heightened security measures in Punjab, with investigators suspecting that the group may have been planning a major terrorist strike around the national celebrations.
However, there was no official statement from Punjab Police confirming the operation at the time of filing this report.
Sources identified the four detained individuals as Karanbir Singh, Mandeep Singh, Sukhdeep Singh and Pradeep Singh, all residents of the Ramdas area in Amritsar district.
