Dharamshala, May 8 -- Four independent candidates contesting the Municipal Corporation elections in Dharamshala withdrew their nominations on the last day for withdrawal, leaving 54 candidates in the electoral fray.
Returning Officer and SDM Mohit Ratan said the candidates who withdrew were from wards 8, 13, 14 and 15. He informed that out of the remaining candidates, 34 are contesting on the symbols of the BJP and Congress, while the others are in the fray as independents.
He said election symbols such as "Rising Sun", "Car" and "Lock and Key" have been allotted to independent candidates. The Returning Officer also clarified that, as per Election Commission guidelines, each candidate can spend a maximum of Rs one lakh on election campaig...
