Shimla, March 13 -- As many as 19 people lost their lives in 42 road accidents reported in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, during the first two months of this year, it was disclosed on Friday.
The figures were shared during a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee held here during the day under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, Anupam Kashyap.
It was informed that Road Safety Month was observed in the district in January.
The administration is also assessing road accident data for 2026 along with figures from the previous three years.
Officials stated that fewer road accidents were recorded in 2025 compared to 2024, though rural areas continue to account for the highest number of incidents. Human error remains...
