Vijayawada, March 11 -- Former union Minister Kavuri Sambashiva Rao passed away while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday. He was 82. He suffered a brain stroke on March 7 and was hospitalized.
Rao was born on October 1, 1943, and completed his engineering graduation at IIT Warangal. He was also an industrialist. He was the Minister for Textiles with cabinet rank in the Manmohan Singh-led Government from 17 June 2013. However, Rao resigned as minister and from the Congress Working Committee, opposing the bifurcation of the combined Andhra Pradesh State in 2014. Later, he joined the BJP, but he had been active in the party since then.
