Kolkata, July 13 -- Former Trinamool Congress MLA from Panihati, Nirmal Ghosh, on Monday approached the Calcutta High Court seeking legal protection from arrest, hours after his son, Tirthankar Ghosh, was arrested by police from the Dakshineswar area late on Sunday night.
A petition seeking permission to file the plea was mentioned before the bench of Justice Sougata Bhattacharya, which allowed the matter to be placed before the court.
The case is likely to come up for hearing later this week.
Tirthankar Ghosh, the defeated Trinamool Congress candidate from Panihati in the last Assembly election, was arrested in connection with multiple criminal cases.
