Kolkata, June 24 -- Former West Bengal Irrigation Minister and senior Trinamool Congress leader Manas Bhunia has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking protection from arrest in connection with a job fraud case registered against him in West Midnapore's Sabang.

The move comes after Sabang Police issued a notice to Bhunia following allegations that he was involved in securing a job for a woman in exchange for money.

Fearing arrest, the former minister has sought legal relief from the High Court after his anticipatory bail plea in a district court could not be heard due to a postponement of proceedings.
