Mysuru, March 19 -- Former minister and Janata Dal (Secular) working president SR Mahesh on Thursday accused the Karnataka Congress government of widespread corruption, alleging that even temple funds are being misappropriated.

Speaking at a press conference, Mahesh claimed that the government had promised corruption-free administration before coming to power but has instead indulged in loot of public and temple money.

He highlighted the Dhanurmasada Jatra Mahotsav at Chunchanakatte, Saligrama taluk, where Rs 5.27 lakh was spent on painting alone, compared to a previous cost of Rs 1 lakh.

Expenses on lighting, sound and barricades totaled Rs 14.74 lakh, while Rs. 32 lakh was reportedly taken from the Nirmiti Kendra for the fair.
