Hyderabad, July 18 -- Former Director General of Police (DGP) J Purnachandra Rao (Retd.) on Saturday called upon members of the Christian community to pursue their constitutional rights through democratic and peaceful means.

Addressing a meeting organised by the Christian Coordination Council (CCC) at the Andhra Christian Theological College, Lower Tank Bund here, Rao said places of worship should serve as centres for promoting social welfare and urged the community to strive for the restoration of Scheduled Caste status for Dalit Christians, prevention of attacks on Christians and repeal of anti-conversion laws through constitutional and democratic processes.
