Lucknow, July 14 -- Although the monsoon has weakened in Uttar Pradesh, heavy rains in the mountains have caused rivers to overflow, threatening floods in lower areas.
In Prayagraj, the waters of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers have reached shops on the ghats. People were seen performing puja while sitting on submerged platforms. In Bijnor, the Malan River is in spate, flowing over small bridges.
In Ballia, the banks of the Saryu and Ghaghra rivers have begun to erode. As a result, 150 families in Bansdih have moved to safer places.
The Yamuna River is in spate in Baghpat. A 14-year-old boy was swept away by the strong current. People nearby jumped into the river to rescue him.
