Rio De Janeiro, Sept. 7 -- Former Atletico Madrid winger Samuel Lino scored in the second half as Flamengo rose to the top of Brazil's Serie A with a 1-0 away win over Remo.

Lino broke the deadlock in the 65th minute by combining with Giorgian de Arrascaeta and toe-poking a shot into the far corner on Sunday.

The hosts finished the match with 10 men after Edson Fernando was shown a straight red card for remonstrating with the referee.

The result leaves Flamengo with 54 points from 26 games, a point ahead of second-placed Palmeiras with 12 matchdays remaining.

Remo is 19th in the 20-team standings with 23 points, six points from the safety zone, according to Xinhua.
