Wardha, July 20 -- : Five people were killed and one sustained serious injuries after an Eicher truck rammed into a car from behind on the Samruddhi Expressway near Wardha district in Maharashtra on Monday, police said.
The accident occurred at around 6 a.m. when the truck hit the car from the rear, leaving the vehicle badly mangled.
Four occupants of the car, including the driver, died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment.
One injured person has been admitted to a nearby hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.
Police, highway patrol personnel and rescue teams rushed to the spot, extricated the victims from the wreckage and shifted them to a hospital.
